Welcome to Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 at Bright Future School covers Years 1 and 2, where children continue their journey of learning in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. Our focus is on building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, creativity, and personal development, helping every child grow with confidence and curiosity.

What do we teach?

In KS1, children explore a broad and balanced curriculum, designed to develop their knowledge, skills, and understanding across key subjects:

Core Subjects

  1. English: Reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Children develop fluency, comprehension, and
    creativity through stories, poetry, and non-fiction.
  2. Mathematics: Building number sense, addition, subtraction, shapes, measurements, and problemsolving skills.
  3. Science: Hands-on investigations to explore plants, animals, materials, and the world around them.

Foundation Subjects

  1. Islamic & Moral Education: Developing spiritual understanding, values, and positive character.
  2. Social Studies & History: Learning about communities, traditions, and historical events.
  3. Arabic (Arabic A & B): Language skills for reading, writing, and communication.
  4. Art & Design: Creativity and self-expression through a variety of materials and techniques.
  5. Physical Education (PE): Encouraging fitness, coordination, teamwork, and healthy habits.
  6. ICT (Information and Communication Technology): Basic computing skills, coding, and digital awareness.
  7. French (from Year 2 onwards): Introduction to a foreign language, vocabulary, and basic communication skills.

How we teach at Bright Future?

Beyond the Classroom

Learning at KS1 goes beyond the classroom:

Our Approach

We follow the UK National Curriculum, ensuring a high standard of teaching while adapting to the needs of our children. Lessons are interactive, practical, and designed to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.
